Introducing Better BTTR™, the Plant Butter Rethinking Dairy

A plant butter from chefs trained in Michelin-starred kitchens — and a better way to enjoy one of the foods people love most.

Quick take

  • Plant butters have long struggled with flavor, with ingredients like palm and seed oils, and with unpredictable pricing.
  • Better BTTR™ is a plant butter brand on a mission to offer a delicious alternative to animal-based butter.
  • Its organic products are made for home cooks, food retailers, restaurants, and institutions.
  • A dedicated Better BTTR facility at full planned output is estimated to avoid about 44,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions a year.

The Existing Dairy Industry

Consumer preferences are shifting toward more climate-aware, health-conscious choices. As the dairy industry — a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions — faces growing scrutiny, the need for a genuine, flavorful butter alternative has become impossible to ignore.

The plant-based dairy sector keeps growing, but it faces real challenges: alternatives that lack rich, buttery flavor, a reliance on palm oils, chemicals and GMOs, and unpredictable pricing.

Finally, a Butter Solution

Enter Better BTTR, a plant butter brand built to redefine the dairy substitute. Its core products take on the plant-based sector’s biggest problems with an organic, plant butter alternative that is delicious.

Better BTTR is made with cultured coconut cream from single-origin coconuts, with live cultures and no coconut taste. The result is a rich, creamy plant butter with no oily residue, in classic salted and unsalted varieties and four chef-crafted flavors.

The brand is starting in New York City — at farmers markets, neighborhood groceries, and eateries — with a simple goal: Better BTTR on every bagel in the city, served to the world’s toughest critics.

“Given the urgent challenges posed by climate change and the evolving demands of consumers, the dairy sector has needed a flavorful, plant-based alternative for some time. Now is the time to make that happen.” Levi Austin, Founder & CEO of Better BTTR

More Than Butter

Beyond the product itself, Better BTTR is developing immersive experiences that let people taste the difference for themselves.

L’BRRE is a luxury plant-based, all-day dining concept that shows off the versatility of Better BTTR at every meal — and doubles as a production kitchen for its flavored butters. A BTTR World is an immersive museum that exposes the harmful practices common in the dairy industry, with an overarching, positive message about better agriculture and better food.

The Potential Impact

By replacing animal-based butter with a plant-based alternative, a single Better BTTR facility at full planned output (about 30,000 pounds a day) is estimated to avoid about 44,000 metric tons of CO2-equivalent emissions a year — an estimate from planned output and a published comparison of animal-based butter and plant-based spreads. The long-term vision is nine Better BTTR facilities across the United States, together offsetting more than 13.7 million metric tons of CO2-equivalent.
